Colorize! Facebook Friday 3/12/2021

Learn how to use Tim Holtz Colorize Die Sets, they are so intricate and beautiful!

Today's blog post is going to feature a Tim Holtz' Cafe Colorize Thinlets Die set and Sizzix Opulent Paper Pack. Every Friday 5-6 pm, Nina will walk you through a project and you can craft along with her by purchasing a pre-made kit in advance. Our March kits are all sold out, but you can purchase April kits here. Be sure to select the date you want, and CHOOSE the 'pick-up' option or 'shipped' option. Each project will be a "mystery" and will be designed by Nina or one of the design team members. There are limited quantities of kits each week, so be sure to sign up if you want a kit. You can join the Facebook Fridays Group here and check out previous projects or just watch along even without the kit.

Today's project is featuring  Tim Holtz Cafe Colorize Thinlets Die Set and Sizzix Opulent Cardstock Pack, in Ivory.  In this paper pack, there are Ivory, Glitter, Soft Touch, Brushed Pearl, Pearl, and Mirror selections.

Nina is using the precut Photoplay Mini-Slimline card bases.

What's included in the kit:

1. Latte cup

2. Teacup

3. Fall Prima grunge paper

4. 4x6 Cut apart, 6x6 paper pad sample

5. Specialty paper from Tonic. There are crates of this beautiful specialty paper in the store

6. Hugs Scripty Bubble Sentiments Die from Lawn Fawn in brown glitter and white.

7. Micro Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives

First Nina used the Latte cup to "practice" learning how to COLORIZE and piece the latte components together.  The easiest way is to place all the different pieces down on your surface in order. You can tell what the order is by looking at the back of the die element. The kit includes the die cuts, but not the die itself.

I've numbered all the components below and you can follow along with the photos. Each piece will be placed corresponding with the score lines on the previous piece. Use the photos as a guide. Nina used wet glue to adhere all the pieces.

There are different ways you can do this top portion. Nina used the inner and outer, and the original packaging used the middle and outer. Both ways look great.

After the final piece above, Nina distressed the Latte cup using a blending tool we learned in the previous blog post to add layering and dimension. She only used one color and you can see the raised pieces came out darker and the recessed pieces came out lighter.

Now you have an extra piece that you can use to embellish a card or layout. YAY!

Now on to the Teacup. Nina made assembling the teacup easier by applying Elizabeth Craft's Double-sided Craft Tape to the back of the die cuts.

Let's lay out all the pieces for the Teacup.

We will adhere them in order.

Nina Distressed the fancy specialty paper by Tonic, and the grunge paper with the fruit and foliage from Prima before adhering them to the card base.

The specialty paper is popped up, while the teacup is not, and it is arranged to the left in a way to allow space for the Hugs die cut.

The glitter Hugs is popped up and offset a little so that that white underneath looks like a shadow. Nina also used the Nuvo Shimmer pen to embellish the foliage and pear. She also added the steam.

Ta Da!
